1. The once-ler definitely represents big-business companies that destroy resources for making products. The lorax, I think, represents the EPA. He is trying to stop the big-business companies, but they won't listen. The thneed is the product of the big company. It is the product that everyone thinks they need, but actually don't need.

3. The using up of oil. We need oil to do most things, yes, but we are using too much of it. We are using more oil than necessary. As a result, we are running out quicker.

3 Resources, The population is demanding supply that we can’t provide as fast as they want them. Once their gone we can’t bring back or replace most of the non renewable resources. People want more than they have and if they don’t get it they blame others. Where do people leave the waste after their done with clothes or food we won’t have enough land for landfills and the world will be covered.
4 Reduce the supply’s we need. Create a substitution for a non renewable resource and provide lesser amounts of the product. Reuse the bottle or don’t get more than what you need. Minimize your food supply to only essentials.

I can make a difference by using less water, using less electricity, and by recycling. The biggest effect on the enviorment was when the onceler was chopping down the trees which means that more co2 is in the air because the trees keep getting chopped down and trees need co2 to produce oxygen and if there is only one tree than it cant support all the co2 in the air. The issue that has the biggest effect on us is that we keep on putting trsh in dumpsters and they go to landfills and when landfills get full then they move to another spot creating a bunch of landfills that are contaminating everything. Some solutiopns to this is to recycle which means to not throw it away but to put it in a tub and it goes off and they make new things out of the things you recycled. A effect of that is that we are still using alot of energy to remake the new items. The way you can make a difference is to follow the 3 r's reduce resuse and recycle if you do all those then you are helping out alot.Another major problem is global warming which is basically melting the ozone layer making the suns rays directly hit so radiation is getting everywhere and that could be a reason why people are getting cancer. ReplyDelete2. Out of the major causes in the book, the least environmentally friendly is the factory itself. Not only does it pollute the air with smog and smoke, it also pollutes the water with sludge, and uses the Truffula trees that are cut down to produce items.
3. Many current environmental issues are having major impacts on the Earth, but one in particular is the oil spill. Oil leaked from pipes directly into the ocean for months before it was slowed down, which not only led to environmental problems, but it also caused problems with the economy. The sludge leaking into the ocean harmed the ecosystems in the water and on the coast, because it killed many of the marine animals and plants. It also created trouble when birds tried to fish or land in the water, because their feathers got stuck together and many died of starvation or by getting the oil in their lungs. Another factor in the oil spill’s devastation was the affect it had on the economy – by ruining the beach and marine ecosystems, it destroyed some people’s livelihood (fishing and tourism, mainly).

Some ways of being more environmentally friendly include: reducing what products or how much of something you buy, reusing things that can be cleaned and used again, recycling products to be made into something new, and being environmentally conscious (thinking about how something will affect the Earth before doing it or buying it, and giving things to other people instead of throwing them away). You can make a difference by practicing these things yourself, teaching others how to do these things, and helping keep the Earth clean and pollutant-free. Being green means that you are environmentally friendly and help others become more environmentally friendly.
1. Well I think that the once-ler represents like the disaster of the environment like the mean guy. I think that the Lorax represents the forest. Because in the beginning of the story it says “what was the Lorax? And why was it there? And why was it lifted and taken away.” Therefore this is like a tree that has been chopped of and taken somewhere to produce a necessary need for example paper. Well thneed can represent the needs of the forest but that not all of the forest is necessary for the environment that people should stop beginning to greedy with nature.

On the end of a rope he lets down a tin pail. I think b y this comment is trying to say that by taking the tree away it will pay them money because the tree can produce items and money. Also the thneeds is trying to help the Lorax by saying that “he speak for the trees”, but yet the tree is taken to a factory to be built. Therefore once-Ler doesn’t care about the effects.
3. In my opinion I think the biggest issue right now is that population is growing more and more and because of this more waste is created. Also more cars have to be produce for the people to use and cars make a waste on oil. Also pollutes our earth because of all those chemicals and gases it contains. 4. I think that people should create more safe resources and use fewer chemicals on things that are made in factories. Also cars should be reinvented. The smog coming from the towers of the factory makes it so the birds can no longer fly. When it goes up into the atmosphere it will negatively affect the earth. 3. The amount of resources we have is not enough for the growing population. Some people are starving while others are in luxurious homes and using more than their fair share of resources. It seems like the people who have their needs met don’t understand that their overusing resources.

We could also cut back on the amount of materials we buy that aren’t necessary and share the little amount of resources we do have with people who don’t even have their needs met.

His factory caused massive air pollution, water pollution and majorly impacted the surrounding habitats. The Brown Bar-ba-loots, the Humming Fish and the Swomee-Swans had to leave their habitats because his factory made living there unbearable for them.
(3) I think that global warming has the most effect on the world right now. It, like the Once-ler’s factory, is majorly affecting the habitats of animals and humans as well. Due to global warming, a lot of animals are losing their homes because of the unusual climate changes that have been occurring lately. Also, global warming has slightly thrown off our economy. Certain resources are being over used and we can’t replenish them.
(4) We could try to minimize the amount of resources that we use. We could reuse and recycle more instead of just making more of everything. And we could try to cut down on the amount of waste that we put out so that we can cut down on pollution. I could make a difference by monitoring how I use things and monitoring how much I waste. I could reuse and recycle more often than I currently do. To me, being green means to do something that helps preserve or help the environment.

Secondly when the trees got cut down and the air got polluted there was nothing that could remove the pollutants from the air. Lastly when the tree got manufactured, the byproducts contaminated the fresh water resource.
3. A current real world event that is having a big effect on the environment is the greed of people to want more than they need. Reason one, if somebody wants a new home they pay people to cut down some trees to open an area they saw “fit” well the problem with this is it’s not only one person its thousands maybe even millions and because of this mass cutting of trees CO2 levels has risen and so has temperature. Reason two, in America we have the bliss of buying what we can afford and the problem with this is that sometimes we buy too much at the same time and end up throwing away more than 20 tons of stuff into landfills less than two months and this does mess with animals that use to call those areas home. Reason three, people want to go places and theres not really a problem with that unless your vehicle burns fuel because of the huge emissions of gases and no way to deplete it.

2.) Building a factory had the biggest effect on the environment. The factory produced smog which made the birds have to fly away because the air was making them sick and hard to see through the sky when flying. The waste from the factory caused the ponds to fill up with junk which then made it harder for the fishes to breath. The cutting down of trees made all the little animals have no food and shade. This made them have to move to because the once-ler cut down there home.
3.) To this day landfills are effect the environment. Just because it’s not the only issue it is still having a big impact on the world. Landfills are taking up are world. Instead of having more landfills just think of the possibilities that we could do with that land that is filled with trash now. The trash is piling up sooner or later we will be forced to adapt with trash everywhere. We are not reducing enough and recycling enough and this is a problem that needs to be helped or even possibly fixed.
4.) Some things we can do to fix some of these is making it a law in every state that you have to at least recycle something either it being all plastic to all cardboard, or cans. If this happens this is only a dent in are problem of pollution. Maybe by saving energy we could turn off the lights more or unplug things that are not being used. If we made things that can be biodegradable that would help out a lot. If the president made a public annocement about pollution and ways to save maybe this would aware people about this ongoing problem since a lot of people look up to the president.

This was taking much of their natural resources. Another possible cause of the problems might be the factory producing so many harsh/toxic chemicals. 3. I think that the people over using natural resources are a big problem. We are in a world that is limited to these resources and we can’t ever retrieve anymore because there won’t be any left if we use it all up. Some of the things that people are using the resources for are not necessary for living. They are more like wants that needs (Which, in this story is called a thneed.).
4. We can’t renew our natural resources, but I think, we can find ways to try and find a substitute for some of them. As we progress, people are finding new ways to do all kinds of things that were never thought to be possible. If he cut down one tree and nobody liked the thing he made, then his invention wouldn’t have went anywhere. So it really all depends on the costumer. 3. A current real- world environmental issue is the recent oil spill. It polluted the water; in addition, it harmed the animals living in the area that got infected. The animals got harm by the oil. For instance, if the oil got on a bird, then it would make it difficult for the bird the fly because it is very slick on the feathers of the bird. The oil spill could also affect the oil level. Since the oil was wasted, it relies on another batch of oil that needs to be pumped again. So the oil spill is a waste of money and time for the companies; moreover, it affects the animals too.
4. Some ways are just to be careful on what you purchase. Because, if we keep buying their products then they will have more opportunities to develop more factories and higher the risk of pollution. We can also recycle and reduce the trash by buying less “wanted” items we want or just limit the amount of your ‘wanted’ things. Being “greens” means to help out the environment. Green refers to the Earth having more trees and plants. But that won’t happen unless we change our bad habits of polluting and not recycling recyclable products, and reduce the use of using our available resources.

When he first chopped down a Truffula tree he told the Lorax that it wasn’t a problem because it was only one tree. The he started chopping down more and more trees and it became a problem.
The Thneed is an example of everything we think we need. It is used to illustrate the harmful effects that mass produced items have on the environment as evidenced by the pollution the factory caused.
2) The trees being chopped down had the biggest effect. When all the trees were gone the Barbaloots had no food. This resulted in the Barbaloots leaving the forest. The trees also kept the air clean and once they were gone the air got smoggy and gross.
3) A real world example is air pollution. We ride in cars so much that we don’t stop and think how it affects our air. The emissions that cars give off have hazardous effects to some people. Kids and adults with asthma can have trouble breathing, and the gases are burning up the ozone layer. If the ozone layer dissipates then we won’t be protect from UV radiation and we’ll have less heat.
4) Some solutions to environmental issues are as easy as reducing, reusing, and recycling. If more people reduced the amount of stuff the buy that they don’t absolutely need then less of it will be wasted and less packaging products will end up in landfills. If you take old clothes that are still useable to the Good Will then families in need can use them. Also, recycling reduces the need for things like plastic, aluminum, and paper to be used because it can be recycled and used for more paper, plastic, or aluminum. Being green means doing things that use less energy and produce less waste. To be green you need to conscious of your environment and how you impact it. Something as simple as turning lights off when you leave the house, buying less processed foods, and recycling can go along way.

One supporting detail is when all the trees got cut down all the animals that lived in the trees had to leave because there wasnt a habitat left. Another one is when they were making the thneeds the smog caused the birds to not be able to sing cause it was so thick. The last one is dumping all the gunk from the factorie into the pond all the humming fish had to leave because they couldnt fly anymore.
3)Air pollution because as the amount of air pollution increases the amount of carbon monoxide is being released and is destroying the ozone layer. Without the ozone layer the suns rays will come and hit the earth directly and start to cause global warming. Also kids and adults with breathing problems the air pollution could make it worse to where eventually cause people to die.
4)Some solutions are ride a bus to school not in a car and this helps becuase it limits the uneccesary air pollution. Another one is pick up trash off the street this helps so animals dont eat it and chock and die and go extinct from pollution. To go GREEN means to help lower the amount of pollutiants in the world.
I think the once-ler represents the big companies, celebrities, the paper factories, etc. The lorax represents earth, the people who care about the future of the children or anything for that matter. The thneed represents the things that we think we need but we really just want. I think that the cutting down of trees has a big effect on the environment. I think this because the cutting down of trees is also effecting the animals that live there. Just like in the story the animals started leaving to find another place to eat and sleep the same will happen for us and they might go extinct because of how long it might take them to find another place like their home. The solutions that we can find to fix this are that we could probably stop cutting as much trees as we do. We could replant trees after we cut some. We could find something else to use other than trees to make the same supplies. We could lower our uses of the things that trees make. I can make a difference by not wasting as much paper as I do now. I could recycle. Being GREEN is when you recycle and take care of the environment around you.

One material we don’t need too much of is chemicals that big companies use to make food develop faster. Another thing we don’t need is huge factories that damage our air to make electricity when we could use non pollutant factories to produce our electricity like water or air and maybe solar power.
4. Some of the solution that could help the environment is solar energy instead of gas. Recently more and more people have started looking into and investing in solar power. The only down side is the material used to make the panels but in the long run solar energy is worth it. Another solution is water and wind power energy. 1.)In the story the Lorax, there was symbolism. The one-ler was represented by business men/women that start a business that goes really well. And its not long before they get greedy and then start using to many resources and it begins to harm the environment and the economy. The main character in the story was the Lorax and it was the voice of nature. Nature doesn’t have a voice to say “STOP”. And the Lorax tried to do just that. The one-ler made an invention called the thneed, which is funny that it was called that because it sounds like Dr. Sues mixed the work think, and need. The thneed was a product that did many things but it wasn’t necessary to have in order to live. The symbolim used to with the thneed was it was the greedy, wealthy business men/women making more and taking resources to make this product.
ReplyDelete2.) One-ler had cut down all of the Truffla trees to make thneeds. Onje-ler created a medicine that cut down the truffle trees faster. So the Truffla trees were getting chopped down at a raiped pase, and before he knew it all the Truffla trees were gone. The animals that lived in the Trufflas trees had to find another place to live. The waste that came from the factories was dumped into the water where the fishes had to find a new place to live.
3.) In our current real world, the big businesses our using to much of our resources and cutting our trees and resources. The environment has been damaged and nature has no voice to say anything about it. The greedy business people use too many resources. There is much more than just natural resources big companies use they also pollute the earth with dangerous chemicals.
4.) There are many things that we can do to help out the environment, and make it better. We can use hydroelectric energy reuse bottles for water, or conserve water. Either it’s big or small anyone can make a deference. And if everyone contracted to helping to environment it would have a big impact. Going “green” means that you think of the environment in your every day life, and try to make your carbon foot print smaller. A carbon foot print is how big your pollution impacts the earth.

Also, the humming-fish are filled with gummed since the goo is blocking their gills.
3. As of today the biggest thing that is affecting the earth is global warming. Global warming affects our atmosphere by adding additional CO2 to the atmosphere. It heats up the world every year by like 1 degree each year. The additional CO2 in the atmosphere its melting the ice caps in the northern and southern poles. From the melting ice caps it’s also increasing our sea levels.
4. Some solutions that can help decrease additional CO2 is by decreasing the burning of fossil fuels. Also, by making fewer factories that need to burn anything that releases extra CO2 into the atmosphere. But we can also not liter as much by not dumping trash into the landfill that when they break down it can release some C02 that was contained into the object.

The Lorax represents someone who is opposed to the over-consumption. He tried to stop the Once-ler from over-using the natural resources, yet the Once-ler continued to pollute. The Thneed is like wants which people buy. Everything people buy isn’t a necessity, yet they claim they “need” it.

The Once-ler’s chopping of the Truffula trees led to the pollutants entering the air. If the trees had still been there, they could have helped slow the pollution, but because the Once-ler chopped them all down, there were no trees to help the air. The trees being chopped down also affected the animals. The change in their environment caused them to have no food; therefore, they had to leave to find a source of food. Lastly, the Once-ler’s chopping led to the pond being polluted as well. His machines put off goo, and then he didn’t clean it up so it seeped into the lowest lying land which, in this case, was the pond.
3) Deforestation is definitely something which is greatly affecting our world today. As lumber companies cut down trees, habitats are being destroyed. Animals have no were to live and their food source is running out, so eventually this will affect the whole food chain, even humans. As more and more trees are cut down, animals have less and less space to live. Deforestation is a major problem in places with Tropical rainforests. In the entire world, over 34 million km2 have been deforested. All those trees that have been deforested once filtered our air to make our air cleaner.
4) To be “Green” means to be eco-friendly. To be “Green” is to buy eco-friendly products, reduce, reuse, and recycle, and not pollute the environment. To help stop things like global warming and deforestation all we need to do is go by The Three Rs; reduce, reuse, recycle. We can make a difference by doing things as small as picking up dog waste to stop water pollution. We can also pick up trash on the side of the road to stop pollution. In addition, we could take it to the extreme and sit in trees so people can’t chop them down. Anything and everything we do effects the environment; it’s just up to us to make that a good or bad effect.

Since it gives off a lot of pollution it makes it hard to breathe for some of the animals so they have to leave. Also it causes smog in the air which limits the sunlight which can affect the plants.
3. Pollution on the earth is the biggest because all around people dump trash or they take it to landfills. A lot of stuff cant or takes a very long time to break down and if it does break down then it releases harmful chemicals to the earth. When some of these things break down it seeps into the ground and can contaminate our water supply and then it takes lots of energy to clean it.
4. If people just simply reduce unnecessary use of things then less things would get wasted and the factory wouldn’t have to make as much and it won’t damage the earth as bad. This makes the air very toxic and bad for the humans to breathe in. also without clean air the plants can’t grow properly and the trees can’t do their proper reproduction cycle because they need the Oxygen to balance out the cycle.
4.) One thing we can do to fix the problem of global warming and environmental issues is to recycle and reuse aluminum and plastic bottles. We can make a difference just by encouraging people to recycle and not to liter. When people use the term GO GREEN they mean that you are doing everything you can to save the environment and help balance our cycle again.

The fish were leaving because he was polluting the water with the (emissions) from the factory. He also made the other animals leave because all the food was being taken away to make the thneed.
c)The global warming is the biggest right now for the world. Because of all the pollution again everything goes back to pollution. The reason this is a big deal is because of all the trash and the gases that are going into the ozone layer which is causing the ozone layer to become depleted. This is over time going to make the earth hot and unbearable to live on.
d)Some solutions to environmental issues are: recycling, reducing, and reusing, thinking of newer ways to get people to stop overindulging. Big ways are to stop making really harmful products and try to use more eco friendly products. I can make a difference by recycling the materials that are able to be recycled and turn water off when I’m not using it especially in the mornings when I brush my teeth. I could also take shorter showers to cut back on my water supply. Another way would be to turn off the lights when I Leave a room or am just sitting there listening to music, also my family could watch television in the same room for a few nights in a row or try and make it an everyday occurrence. I could also get my friends to carpool with me when we go somewhere we could all meet up at someone’s house and take their car to the place of interest. To be green means to try and be eco-friendly which is trying to buy all the products you can to help reduce the waste and then you could donate clothes and things to not just put them in a landfill. You could also buy less of a product which again puts fewer things in landfills. There are so many things people could do to be green. Green is a definition that has so many different meanings, to everyone.

For example, it gives us oxygen (VERY IMOORTANT), it gives us shade, it is a home for some organisms, and it provides food to us and other animals and creatures. As you can see most of these things are necessities and if we keep on cutting down trees it will decrease these resources and one day we may not even have them. That is why trees are so important because without them we would have a very hard time surviving in this world.
3.) I think that one of the most important environmental issues we are having today is the cutting down of forests and the polluting of air from cars. Like I said in my second paragraph, when you cut down forests you are taking away innocent creatures homes and taking away our oxygen we need to breath. All the pollution of cars can cause the air we breathe to be very unsanitary. We are also decreasing the amount of fossil fuels we have.
4.) Even though you might think your one person and you are not going to make a difference if you take caution in our environment, you do. What you do does not have to be extreme it can be as simple as using a permanent water bottle instead of using a plastic water bottle, to turning off your light when you leave a room. This would reduce the amount of things we throw away and save electricity which in term can make a difference. Everything little and big thing you do can make a difference in the cleanliness of our world. Even by encouraging people to go green is a way in helping our environment, for you are inspiring people to go green to help keep our planet safe. What I mean when I say “going green” simply means to take steps in your life to be a cautious person in our environment, aka environmentally friendly. Some steps you can do to become environmentally friendly are, reducing the amount of electricity you use, buying natural and organic products, planting more trees and plants and less use of cars. They have many new products and actual houses that have been built to help our environment too.

3.) One cause in the environment is pollution. People litter and smoke and ride in a car everyday. Those things are polluting the air and are not making anyone's safety better. The are point source pollutants and non-point source pollutants and they both are not good for our environment. We have a bad littering problem too. Especially on the beach. People leave their cigaretts and plastic bags on the shore. The plastic bags make turtles think that they are jellyfish. They end up eating it, choke on the plastic and DIE!! Leaving te cigarette butts on the shore is horrible because the birds mistake them for food. They eat them and choke and DIE!! Come on...we have to do better than that now.
4.) There are many solutions, BIG and small. Here are some:
1. People need to STOP littering(especially on the beach).
2. People need to STOP cutting down trees just to build buildings and houses.
3. People need to be mindful that they are NOT the only living things ON THIS EARTH!!
4. If people STOP being so SELFISH then everything will get what it needs to survive.
5. STOP USING THE RESOURCES UNNECESSARILY!!!
I can make a difference by recycling more and encouraging other people to stop littering. I think to be GREEN is to be someone who cares about our environment and they actually do something about it to make a difference. Follow the "GREEN RULES." You should know what they are if you are all about the environment!

3. I have to say that there are two real world environmental issues that have an equal amount of effect on the environment. Those two choices would have to be pollution, and global warming. If I had to choose the one that has the greatest effect it would have to be pollution. Pollution has the biggest effect because it’s all around us, and humans are mostly the main cause of it. All we ever do is throw trash around; however, where we live could be a better if we try picking up trash every once in a while. Plus global warming is a kind of pollution, so pollution overall is the main cause. Pollution to the water can kill all of our marine animals, which can knock out the whole food chain.
4. There are a number of solutions that we can put into action to help current event issues. People can try to recycle, and reduce some of the things we use. For example, do you really think that you need a light on in every room even when you’re not in them? NO, so why do you have them on. We could also reuse some things that can be reusable, like water bottles, plastic bags, or paper. If a piece of paper has one little word on it, just erase that one little word, and start writing. Don’t just throw it away that is a waste of paper. If you don’t want put it in the recycling bin. Ways that I myself can make a difference is by recycling. Me and my family already recycle cans but we can do a little by not littering. My brother and I find ourselves sometimes throwing trash in the gutter. Yes I know this is a bad thing and I feel very ashamed of it but I don’t do it anymore, now that I've grown up. What it means to be GREEN is that you recycle a lot. You do a lot of environmental things, like recycling, replenishing trees, picking up trash, etc. It’s like you care about the world you live in, and you will do anything to make it a better place to live in

3) The most related thing I would think that’s relevant is using oil and burning fossil fuels. I know it’s necessary, but we could start car pooling or riding bikes to get where we need instead of using all that fuel.
4) Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. We should start recycling every day and not throw things in the trash that we could recycle. Reusing, rechargeable batteries or something along the lines of that. The chopping down of the trees had the biggest effect on the environment, because the Lorax had to tell his friends to move away because all the trees were becoming extinct so that caused a factory to be built because of the income from the thneeds. Trees being chopped down, smog from factories and some types of transportation, these cause serious environmental problems because animals living in the area of this things either start to become extinct or loose their home. Recycling more and reusing reusable resources, I personally need to recycle more because Ive always had the attitude that “whats the purpose of me recycling when it isn’t gonna change anything”. But now I think differently about recycling and going “Green”, going green means that you are doing things to help the environment, for example using energy sufficient light bulbs, recycling, no littering, cleaning up beaches, e.t.c.

The Lorax symbolizes nature and the Earth. If nature could talk, and the Lorax’s job was to talk for nature, it would probably tell us to limit our resources and that sooner or later we could really cause a catastrophic event to occur, which would be the end of everybody. The Thneed to be is what people yearn for instead of what they really necessitate. The Once-ler, in the story, was advertising the Thneeds and telling people that could use them for a variety of things, but people don’t understand that the Once-ler is exceptionally voracious and he took people out of their own homes and maybe even killed people to get money off of his Thneeds. For me I think that cutting down the trees, the water pollution, and the air pollution all cause a big affect on the environment simply because I don’t think one is important than the other because we all need these resources they are necessities not fantasies. A real world problem I think we are having right now would probably be air pollution. There are so many factories and cars releasing hazardous and bad. The more air pollution let out into the air the more it is going to decrease the ozone layer. People with asthma problems could get really ill or possibly die. To be green is to do things that will better the environment; furthermore, our planet earth. Some solution to air pollution, which would be going green, is to stop driving cars so much and maybe use a bus, walk, or ride a bike. It created smog and polluted the air and water. From the smog birds couldn’t fly and had to go somewhere else because they couldn’t adapt to it. Pollutants in the water harm and put fish and other ocean animals at risk. The burning of fossil fuels is what is currently affecting us the most, the fastest. It pollutes the air and is causing other problem that lead to more serious things that have a great affect on the environment. Fossil fuels are composed entirely of carbon, when we burned or when the fumes are inhaled to cause cancer in humans, and the way they cause global warming is that when we burn them they release Carbon back in the form of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and also effect the greenhouse gasses which act like a blanket and cause this increase in global temperature. The first thing that can be done to help our environment is to have awareness. There are many people that are not familiar with or aware of the environmental issues that are happening and how they contribute to them. The consumption of natural resources to the extent possible and the emission of carbon into atmosphere can help reduce the pollutants into the air. I can make a difference by riding the bus to school and getting other children to will help also. Because the bus doesn’t emit as many gases into the air as about two cars worth of student’s do. To be green means to do well for the benefit of the environment. It means to do good to help the environment using mainly GREEN products or things all natural. Like going to the grocery store and using the eco friendly bags or paper instead of plastic.

They wouldn’t have had to build bigger buildings if people weren’t buying. A lot of people were buying the thneeds so the once-ler had to bring all of his family to help produce the product.
1. The Once-ler represents people around the world that cut down trees. The Lorax represents nature or an environmentalist. The Thneed represents all of the stuff that is made by cutting down trees.
ReplyDelete2. The biggest cause from the book is cutting down all of the trees. All of the forest was destroyed and the smog was in the air from the emissions from the factory.
3. The biggest problem in the world is emissions from smoke stacks going into the atmosphere and helping the ozone layer build. Factories that have stacks and smoke coming out of them build up on the ozone. Then the ones in the factories that don’t have stacks are still bad because they use more electricity.
4. A small solution is to use fuel efficient cars. A big solution is to pick up all the trash. I can make a difference by recycling. It means to help the Earth.
1) The Once-ler represents a person in greed that doesn’t think about how his greed is affecting others and their living area. The Lorax is the person who is standing up for the Truffula trees. Thneed is the item that is driving the Once-ler to cut down the Truffula trees. Big time companies that cut down trees to make their product are just like the Once-ler. They’re not aware that not just trees are being cut down to make the product but, gases are being released into the air that is causing a strong pollution to the air quality.
ReplyDelete2) After seeing that the one tree could provide such a wonderful creation he had to continue. Cutting down the trees took away homes for the Lorax’s people. The Once-ler didn’t notice how he affected the animals till the Lorax brought the problem of cutting down the trees to his attention. All of the animals lost homes, food, and shade but that didn’t bother the Once-ler to stop cutting down the trees. As he allowed his factory to grow he added horrible gases into the air. The Once-ler was only worried about the profit he was going to make and not the affect. If the Lorax never spoke for the trees and animals the Once-ler would have continued to chop off the trees and give off the bad gases. The smallest thing made a bigger problem.
3) Big factories and companies may have been small companies to start with. Selling only to the neighborhoods surrounding the small business making it not much of a need to expand. The companies are quite aware of what they’re doing but, since they’re making such a big profit why should they care how they affect the environment. Couples of forests cut down and half of the air polluted doesn’t sound so bad to them. Eco-USA and EPA are groups that make notes to the companies on what they’re doing just as the Lorax did. They mean no harm just want the CEO’s to see what they’re doing is wrong and should change to make a better difference.
4) The companies could put a limit on where the cut trees from and how long the factory stays running. Replanting at least half of what they cut down. If they were to replace the trees they cut down our air quality will improve. More trees to take in the carbon dioxide and give off more oxygen so we all can live. Cutting back on how long the factories run would cut back on the release of the gases that the factory gives off. The consumers that support the factory could cut back on the buying of the product. As a big time shopper myself I cut back on things that are not needed. My mother and I shop in areas where we shop at one place and can walk to other stories and buy things. That cuts down on the driving we do which adds to the released carbon. We stop using plastic bags and made our own and only asked for paper if we forget the cloth bags. My family has always tried our best to stay earth-friendly.
5) “Green” means to be aware of the environment around you and how you affect it. Recycling products that you use to make new ones. Trying to cut back on the harmful ways we do on a day to day base. As hard as you can try and stay green you still making a small affect of harm. Remaking products out of old ones give off as much gas as a regular product but, you’re still making a better future by rmaking a new old instead of letting it go to the landfills.
